Kyambogo University passed out its first phase of graduates from the School of Management and Entrepreneurship (SOME), Faculty of Special Needs and Rehabilitation and Graduate School at the 15th Graduation Ceremony held today morning at the University grounds.
The Graduation Ceremony was presided over by the University Chancellor Prof. John Ssebuwufu who was re-appointed to the position by President Yoweri Museveni late Last Week after the expiry of his tenure in office.
Unlike previous years, fees defaulters were permitted to graduate at the graduation ceremony. Prof. Eli Katunguka the Vice Chancellor had this to say on the new development;
“The students will graduate on the basis of having completed academic requirements. If a student has excelled in all the prescribed courses, he or she will graduate. There are students still owing the University money but they will graduate,” Said Prof. Katunguka.
However, he mentioned that the students will not be allowed access to academic transcripts unless they complete all the University dues accruing.
The Vice Chancellor also hinted on the Centralized marking system to reduce on the issue of missing marks.
“We have tried this system in the past but it had failed to materialize. However, it will be re-instated to ensure that Students’ marks are safe,” Prof. Katunguka added
Of the 7304 students to graduate in these three days, 4139 are male and 3165 are female. The number is bigger than that of 2017 and 2016 where 7078 and 6479 students graduated respectively.
