Early voting is underway at Kyambogo University for the 7th March guild presidential elections, and the number of people that have turned up to vote is increasing each minute all amidst tight security following yesterday’s mishap.
“We are having a high number of students turning up to vote, it’s just one hour into the voting and the numbers are already high,” said one of the supervisors for the elections at Kyambogo.
“I strived so hard to make sure I leave home and come to cast my vote, I’m so happy and optimistic about today. I am not sure where it has us as a community but my hope is that it’s for something better,” says Namulinda Hildah one of the students from engineering.
Security is tight at the university and particularly at the polling stations, students are in high spirits for this long awaited election process.
All necessary polling material is available and the students fraternity has been urged to keep peaceful and monitor the voting process keenly to avoid any vote rigging.
“We advise students to be a brother’s keepe. Cast your votes and stay around to monitor till the last minute.” commented Brian Male A GRC contestant.
