Jonathan Tundulu also commonly known as “Tundu Tundulu”, the current guild president of Kyambogo University for the year 2019-2020 has come out in yet another act of defiance against the ruling government to distribute masks to the general population of mostly Banda and Kyambogo.
In a bid to rescue the people whose activities are limited due to the Government’s excuse of “general masks not being ready”, Tundulu says he intends to help them resume their duties and support themselves financially.
Our reporter while speaking to Hon. Tundulu learnt that the earlier mentioned people of Banda had for long awaited the government masks till they could wait no more and had now completely ignored the ministry of health’s SOPs – something which he as a leader could not stand to see. Thus his campaign and initiative was born.
The initiative is based on mask distribution to everyone regardless of their norms, heritage or beliefs and according to Hon. Tundulu, it was launched yesterday on the 13th of July 2020 with actual distribution commencing today. This campaign has further proven government negligence towards its lower income people by leaving them to fend for themselves in such a trying moment as Covid-19.
The masks have the People Power logo and the slogan “Tundu Tundulu” embodied on the side. This further goes to show that the “People in Red” are always fending for the “muntu wa wansi” whether in positions of power or not.
