Kyambogo University guild president Jonathan Tundulu has urged all Kyambogo students to take part in the ongoing General Update of the National Voters’ Register by the Electoral Commission (EC) if they intend to take part in decisions that influence their well being.
Tundulu urged all students to take concern of the ongoing activity that started on November 21st and goes up to December 11th across all parishes, including Kyambogo University. The activities being handled include registration of new voters, applications for transfer of polling stations, and update of voters’ particulars among others.
“Since voting is centered on your voter-ability, this activity is so pivotal in determination of the course of direction for not only Uganda but Kyambogo University too in positions such as local councils which help in further expanding our voices in council and other government organs.” Tundulu wrote in part.
Tundulu, a known people power person, was a subject of scandal when members of the GRC in Kyambogo attempted to impeach him because he had spent a lot of time in national politics and ignored them.
The Electoral Commission (EC) Chairman Justice Simon Byabakama launched the exercise last week on Thursday and urged every Ugandan that hopes to participate in the elections in 2021 to take part for smoother running of the process.
