Kyambogo University has sworn in seventeen new members to its sixth university council.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eli Katunguka expressed gratitude for outgoing fifth council that concluded its term in September, headed by Dr. Mary Goretti Nakabugo.
“I am convinced that the sixth council shall contribute more extensively to rebuild the university further,” Katunguka stated during the swearing-in ceremony held on Monday.
The new council members come from diverse constituencies, including academic staff, support staff, and government representatives.
Prof. Katunguka emphasized that while each member advocates for the interests of their respective groups, they are collectively responsible for promoting the overall well-being of the university.
High Court Judge Lawrence Tweyanze administered the oath of secrecy, integrity, and commitment to the new council members. He stressed the importance of collective responsibility, confidentiality, and seeking God’s guidance in their work.
According to University Secretary Mr. Arthur Katongole, the new council members were selected through a formal process, with different organs submitting names to constitute the full council of 24 members.
