Kyambogo University community is in deep sorrow after the sudden death of Mr. Gabriel Okeny, one of the most hard working support staff at the University.
He was the Warden of North Hall of residence who was loved by the community he served. Like on any other normal week day, Mr. Gabriel Okeny reported to work early in the morning.
According to a resident of North hall, Mr. Okeny felt sickly at around 11:00am and thus he called his son to come and pick him up as soon as he could.
It was when they reached the Banda gate on their way home that Mr. Okeny’s son realized that his dad was dead.
When asked to talk about him, one of the students residing in North hall said he was a kind and compassionate man.
“He would load airtime just to call students to come and fill in their food and living out allowance forms, such that they would get allowances as soon as possible,” the student went on to say.
This is such a difficult time for the Kyambogo University fraternity as it has been characterised by moments of mourning and grief. Recently, the fraternity lost a finalist student, Kimera Boniface who belonged to the faculty of engineering.
The sudden death of Mr. Gabriel Okeny has left the entire community that loved him so much in deep sorrow. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Burial arrangements of the late will be communicated. Kyambogo University community sends condolences to the bereaved.
