Kyambogo University is in preparation for the 20th guild elections and top political parties are up and about to offer the best candidates in the race.
National Unity Platform (NUP) is one of those tirelessly working not just to win, but also defend their spot as the favourite party at the Banda based institution.
NUP had its nominations earlier last week, a guild presidential debate on October 10th, and its primaries are slated for October 12th.
Three candidates have been nominated to compete for NUP’S flag ahead of Kyambogo’s 20th guild elections. The three are Katumwa Ronald, Nakayenga Samuel and Ogola Ivan.
Among the three, Ogola Ivan stands out for the kind of odd tactics he has employed in the NUP primaries.
Leave along being the only candidate from a completely distant region (North), Ogola’s political style is one that turns heads.
Ogola has all through the NUP election process been donned in a red beret that might have been borrowed from the 1914 world war troops.
While others were rushing to purchase the NUP berets, Ogola’s campaign team was not in panic as they had already secured him a very unique and war-like beret.
Ogola’s suits have also been perfectly selected to make him the outstanding candidate he is. When others are in double breasted suits, Ogola is in his one buttoned suit patched with designs at the collar.
Yes, his English is also slightly different, and you can tell from his face that he is very calm while others seem to be panicking.
As NUP elects it’s Flagbearer on Thursday, I hope Ogola’s odd tactics will pay off, but if they don’t, then he will definitely get odd votes.
Kyambogo University students will go to the polls on October 26th to elect their 20th guild government. NUP is looking forward to retaining the top spot by ensuring their Flagbearer to be replaces Wafula Edrine Koholo.
Wafula, the 19th guild president, got into office on the NUP ticket. The 26th polls will tell whether Kyambogo students want a new taste in leadership or are contented with the National Unity Platform.
