During his communication to the press ahead of Kyambogo University’s 16th Graduation Ceremony, Prof Eli Katunguka, the university vice chancellor revealed that out of the 8,892 students set to graduate this year, 187 students scooped 1st class degrees in various programmes.
He also announced that this year’s overall best performing male student is Kasaazi George William, a Bachelor of Information Technology and Computing student who scored 4.88 CGPA out of 5.0 CGPA. The overall best performing females are Nantume Benardette Nakintu ( Bachelor of Information Systems) and Kizza Joan (Bachelor of Information Technology and computing) both with CGPA of 4.83.
This was during a press conference held today morning at the university where he officially communicated that President Yoweri Museveni will grace the first day of the graduation ceremony slated to take place this Wednesday 11th December 2019. The graduation period will run till Friday, 13th December 2019.
“During the three-day graduation period, we shall present a total of eight thousand eight hundred ninety two (8,892) students who have qualified for the award of Doctorates, Bachelors and Masters Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates . Out of these 4,877 are male, and 4,015 are female.” Katunguka said.
“I am glad to inform you that in this 16th Graduation ceremony we will be graduating Doctorate students for the first time ever in Kyambogo University and these are Bamuwamye Micheal and Gafuma Samuel both to graduate with a Doctor of Philosophy in Food Technology. I would like to congratulate them and appreciate them for the hard work and determination to complete their Doctorates.” He added.
According to Katunguka, semester 1 for the Academic year 2018/2019 ended yesterday, Sunday 8th December 2019 and Semester Two 2019/2020 Academic Year commences on January 11, 2020 and will end on May 10, 2020.
