A student from Kyambogo University has had an ordeal for two days narrating details to army detectives.
Lorna Naula, a 21-year-old student from Banda was in the net of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI)in Mbuya to answer to queries relating to contacts with UPDF Chief, Gen Wilson Mbadi’s daughter.
Lorna was detained for allegedly reaching out to the CDF’s daughter seeking help from the latter to influence the release of a family member.
According to an anonymous source, Lorna was whisked away by unknown operatives earlier this week from campus as she returned to her residence.
The tactful officers disguised themselves as delivery guys to easily persuade Lorna into their inveigle.
“They called her claiming they had a parcel to deliver. They had actually called her the previous day, but she had declined to respond,” an informant disclosed.
Luckily, as Lorna departed for questioning, she informed her family about the saga and hoped to be back by the end of the day. Her phone was however switched off until the following day.
She made a statement on Monday but the reason they delayed to release her was that the CDF wanted to see her physically but was consumed by a tight schedule. The officers later apologized for keeping Lorna for that long.
Reliable sources indicate that Lorna shared a school with the CDF’s daughter hence the guts to contact her for help to influence the military to grant bail to her jailed brother.
It is reported that Lorna’s brother, Mr Jonathan Muhumuza, formerly working with the military needs bail to free him since his arrest in September for alleged unlawful possession of military stores.
This explains why Gen Mbadi was far from pleased by Lorna’s attempt to involve the daughter in such a case hence the tracking and questioning. There was an assumption that the caller was a wrong element trying to kidnap his daughter.
Lorna is reportedly free for the moment until the officers need another conversation.
