Nicholas Odaka a second year student at Kyambogo University is contemplating on quitting campus.
This demise after he placed his entire tuition for a “sure-win” bet on Arsenal which lost against Man United on Sunday evening.
As early as 11am on Sunday morning, Odaka camped at Kings Sports Betting, a popular betting outlet in Banda trading center. On getting there, the daily customer was quickly given the odds and as he cross-examined them, he joked how he was going to carry sacks too collect his sure win prize, a close friend narrated to Campusbee.
He staked shs890,000 and expected a total payout of roughly shs1,700,000 had Arsenal won the match. Odaka, who had just travelled the previous evening from Tororo, before kick-off, was eagerly waiting to showcase how he was the latest money bags in Banda. This wish, however, did not see the light of day as Arsenal was beaten 3-2 in Old Trafford.
On seeing his side trail to an early 2-0 defeat, Odaka was seen uneasy, gritting his teeth and asking his friends if there was a way he could get the money he had staked back from the muyindi.
He has literally switched off his phones and his whereabouts are not known… his friends are worried. “He had made a deal with me that we link up tonight and I was excited that we could have a great time but that never happened. I am yet to hear from him!”one of his pals, Angella said.
