Last year, we brought you a story of Allan Kato, a Kyambogo University student who was battling Ulcerative colitis and needed immediate help. “Ulcerative colitis” a disease that causes inflammation and soars (ulcers) in the lining of the large intestine (colon). It usually affects the lower section (sigmoid colon) and the rectum. But it can affect the entire colon.
Sad news reaching us this morning is that Kato, a student who was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in the year has passed on this morning at Mengo hospital where he was getting treatment. A source close to the family has told this website that Kato passed on early this morning after he was taken back to Mengo hospital for his routine check up.
“We have received sad news this morning from Kato’s family that he has passed on. Kato had of recently been discharged and taken home for monitoring. However, he was yesterday brought back to Mengo hospital for a routine check up and he was pronounced dead this morning,” Berna, a friend and course mate to the deceased told this reporter.
Kato will be taken to his home in Kajjansi as preparations are being made for his burial.
May his soul rest in peace.
