Tension is mounting at Kyambogo University’s Faculty of Engineering, where students say they have been left in limbo after lecturers withheld exam results in protest over unpaid salaries.
Frustrated finalists, some just weeks away from graduation, accuse the administration of jeopardising their futures by failing to resolve the standoff.
“We’ve paid our fees and completed our assignments. We deserve to know how we’ve performed,” said one finalist, warning that the delay is a “ticking time bomb” for students whose careers depend on timely graduation.
For many, the situation is more than an inconvenience. Without results, they cannot apply for jobs, scholarships, or postgraduate programmes.
The students are now demanding urgent action.
“We urge the administration to prioritise paying lecturers and settle this matter once and for all. Our futures are at stake,” another finalist said.
The deadlock has sparked growing anxiety on campus, with fears that delayed graduation could cost students valuable opportunities. Calls are intensifying for the university to engage lecturers in good-faith negotiations and end the impasse.
“We can’t afford to wait any longer. The administration must act now,” students insisted.
