Students from the Banda based Kyambogo university on Wednesday afternoon joined the mammoth crowd that escorted presidential aspirant, Kizza Besigye from Namboole to Nakivubo. The students joined the procession from Banda where Besigye was given a sofa set to sit on by one of the traders.
“My lecture was just for one hour. I can compensate that one hour by coping the notes. I could not miss the “state of the nation address” by the peoples’ president.” Ibra Kabugo, a second year community development student told Campusbee.
“Studying is useless when you don’t expect to get jobs after graduation. By attending the rally, we are showing support to the person who will create jobs for us when we eventually graduate,” Chris Magezi, a second year Mechanical Engineering student lamented.
When quizzed if they were paid to attend the rally, Ann Amajo replied; “We love Besigye and we can do anything for him. Instead of him giving us facilitation money, we are the one who gave him some of our small money because we want him to liberate us from this bad education system. The old structures and filthy drainage systems at our campus need a President who represents the people- and that is Besigye.”
On Tuesday, a bunch of Kambogo university students were forced to foot back to Banda from Nakivubo after failing to get facilitation from the Go Forward team led by presidential aspirant, Amama Mbabazi.
