Following a meeting held last Wednesday 30th August, a resolution was reached to equip all Kyambogo University students with self-defense skills that will also help in crime prevention. This meeting was comprised of top University leaders including the Deputy Vice Chancellor, dean of students, University Secretary, estates manager and the entire security team.
The Kyambogo security team revealed that theft cases within the University have greatly reduced compared to the previous academic years but a few cases related to conmen in and outside the University have been reported. In a bid to boost the University’s security, a police booth is yet to be set up near the football pitch to ease security monitoring.
Apparently, the security will not only stop within the campus premises but foot and motorcycle police patrols will spread their security services to Banda trading center most especially during the late night hours.
In addition to Kyambogo’s private security operatives, the Banda based campus will join other Universities like Makerere that have full-time police around campus
