For some time now, Kyambogo University has been strategizing how best it can mobilize its alumni to come together and discuss issues that might lead to the future development and betterment of the university.
The university has a convocation office that registers the alumni located right next to the main administration block since 2003.
Today 15th June 2022, Prof. Eli Katunguka, the Vice Chancellor and Mr. Kenneth Mbogo, the chairperson convocation were hosted by NTV for a live talk show to elucidate more about the alumni mobilization drive during the Morning program at the station.
While appearing at NTV, Prof. Eli Katunguka was proud to say that there are very many Kyambogo University alumni all over the country who need to come together to discuss how Kyambogo University can be made one of the universities that stand out in East Africa and Africa at large.
He further went on to explain that the alumni are not just the recent graduates but also the others that went through the university ever since its formation in 2001.
“There are very many alumni of Kyambogo University. Most of the teachers in the country are products of our university. When you ask most of these teachers, they will tell you they are products of ITEK, an institution that combined with UNSE and UPK to come up with Kyambogo University. We need all the alumni to come together to discuss matters that are important for the University’s betterment. We are organizing a dinner for all the alumni. We shall have a discussion about how best we can bring all the alumni together to discuss further development of our university,” Prof Eli Katunguka remarked.
Mr. Kenneth Mbogo encouraged the alumni and students to have love and devotion for Kyambogo. He praised Kyambogo for offering a quality education hence he will always feel proud to be associated with its history and future.
“I love Kyambogo University. As both an alumnus and a member of staff, I encourage everyone else to love the university just like I do. We would love to see Kyambogo become one of the most recognized universities in Africa. By seeking the mobilization of all the alumni, we hope to gather resources in form of ideas, knowledge and finances to make our university better. Perhaps we can have a bigger student’s center where students can carry out their businesses and others get services. We can improve the infrastructure and maybe have swimming pools around,” he said.
The Kyambogo University alumni all over the country are thus being called upon to come and register with the convocation office in the university just next to the main administration block. Together, Kyambogo University can become better.
