The Vice Chancellor of Kyambogo University, Prof. Eli Katunguka today 2nd September 2022 recognized and awarded the best researchers among the teaching staff in a ceremony that took place in the University’s Council Room.
Among the twenty two awardees were four Associate Professors and eighteen Doctors.
Inclusive of the awardees are Dr. Doreen Mbabazi from the department of Mathematics, Dr. Dan Nayebare from School of Management and Entrepreneurship, Dr. James Isabirye, Dr. Robert Tweheyo , Associate Prof. Joyce Ayikoru, Dr. Matia Mukama, among others.
Prof. Eli Katunguka encouraged the teaching staff from different faculties and departments to do more research.
He appreciated the fact that thirty eight teaching staff responded to the 7th Research call although only twenty two were awarded.
“Do research, publish and contribute to the knowledge that you are teaching. Teach from the research you have made. In the end, this research is geared towards self promotion and growth,” he remarked.
Advising on how best to write a research publication, he said that researchers should avoid plagiarism and instead be original and own their work.
“Find time to publish. Publication is the best form of accountability. The moment you think of something in relation to your research paper, write it down,” the VC noted.
He also encouraged the teaching staff to work hard to accomplish greather tasks regardless of whether it is during the working hours or after saying, “You should work depending not on the working hours but on the work there is to do.”
