The battle for Kyambogo University’s financial survival has begun, and the newly appointed council members are wasting no time in taking charge.
With underfunded programs, delayed staff salaries, and struggles to attract top-tier talent, the institution is in dire need of a miracle—and the 17-member council has been tasked with delivering just that.
During a fiery induction ceremony on Wednesday, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eli Katunguka didn’t hold back. “Underfunding is crippling us! We need a serious strategy to fix this before it gets worse,” he warned, urging the council to prioritize funding and resource mobilization.
His message was clear: money talks, and without it, the university will sink!
But the newly sworn-in council members aren’t backing down from the challenge. With big names like Prof. Fred Wabwire-Mangen, Prof. Monica Chibita, Prof. Joseph Mugisha, and Eng. Dr. Christopher Ebal on board, expectations are high.
“We need to build infrastructure, hire the best, and keep them! Without financial resources, this won’t happen,” Prof. Katunguka emphasized.
Backing his call, Minister of State for Higher Education John Chrysostom Muyingo reminded the council of their massive responsibility. “If they fail, the whole university crumbles. But with the right leadership, Kyambogo can rise to new heights,” he said.
The question now is: Can this new team deliver, or will Kyambogo remain trapped in financial turmoil? Stay tuned as we track their every move!
