Today Monday 15th August 2022, year four students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management (BIEM) and Environmental Engineering and Management (BEEM) angrily complained about the denial of their Research Methods results which will not be released any soon over allegations of over excelling.
This was after the former dean of the faculty of Engineering, Dr. Catherine Wandera, submitted a complaint against the excellent performance of the alleged victims as compared to that of her own students whose failure rate is rather high to even compare.
She claimed that the victims are not academically good enough, something that resulted into the denial of the results as further investigations into the matter were being undertaken.
Dr. Okaka Wilson whose students performed amazingly beyond everyone’s expectations asked the coordinators to collect at least 10 answer scripts of the students, both male and female, which were to be handed in to the Administration for verification.
He attributed such great performance to the most unprecedented learning that he put his students through, teaching, research training, mentoring, practical exercises and international participation.
As such, the furious students asked for clarity as to why anyone would question their abilities to excel after they went through the most efficient and reliable process of learning with numerous assignments.
“Dr. Catherine Wandera has no moral authority to question our excelling ability given the extra obligations we have fulfilled as required,” a one Munyona Sulah commented.
The course coordinators of the students involved are making consultative efforts to the relevant authorities in pursuance of the release of these results as soon as possible.
They will resort to other methods if this peaceful way does not yield much.
“Students should be considered as the biggest stakeholders and not beggars,” one of the affected students remarked.
