Kyambogo University Finally Allows Students to Access University Premises with Bags

It will be recalled that in the wake of the recent terror attacks which were experienced in the country, particularly in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area, the management of Kyambogo University through the University Security Management Committee had resolved and directed among others, that no bags be allowed through the access gates to the University premises.

Accordingly, in a letter written by the University Secretary, Mr. Charles Okello, to the entire students’ fraternity, he has intimated that the University Management received requests, suggestions and proposals for allowing the carrying of bags to promote convenience for students without compromising the security of the University community.

In light of the proposals and suggestions fronted, Mr. Charles Okello has further noted that the University Management has considered some of them and has directed that students are to be allowed to carry only specific laptop bags, small ladies bags and light bags. Mr. Okello has categorically pointed our that all these exempted bags are to be subjected to thorough security check by security personnel at the entrance.
