Kyambogo University Council has given green light to part of Guild President John Mbazira’s petition on the proposed amendments of the revised University Financial Management Manual.
The Chairperson to the council, Mary Goretti Nakabugo confirmed the resolution to extend a surcharge free registration deadline from six weeks to eight weeks in a letter shared with the University community.
Previously, the unfair six weeks policy attracted extra charges that frustrated most students with financial liabilities. The extension is not a solution but a better shot at life perhaps.
The University council noted that after reviewing the Guild President’s petition, the council henceforth;
“Approved the extension of the registration deadline from six (06) weeks to eight (08) weeks within which a student shall pay 100% of all fees (both tuition and functional fees) every semester without attracting any penalty or late registration fees. This amendment shall apply prospective incoming first year students.”
However, the council declined the proposal for provisional registration and maintained the definition of registered student as defined in the Joining Instructions and other University policies. These provide that, registration should be granted to a student who has fulfilled his/her financial obligations to the University.
