Kyambogo University’s third fundraising dinner has yielded impressive results, with over 135 million Ugandan shillings raised and an additional 100 million pledged toward the construction of a new student center. The event, held at Hotel Africana on Friday evening, brought together alumni, faculty members, and university officials in a united effort to enhance student facilities.
The fundraising dinner marked a significant step toward the university’s ambitious target of 15.29 billion shillings for the student center project. The chief fundraiser set a generous tone for the evening with an initial contribution of 30 million shillings.

In a remarkable display of alumni loyalty, the pioneering class of engineering graduates made a substantial collective donation of 200 bags of cement alongside 12 million shillings in cash. This contribution drew enthusiastic applause from attendees, highlighting the strong bonds former students maintain with their alma mater.

“The commitment shown by our alumni tonight demonstrates the lasting impact of a Kyambogo education,” said Vice Chancellor Katunguka during his address. He emphasized the future student center’s importance in creating spaces for student interaction, networking, and social activities.

Eng. Ambrose Aryeij delivered welcome news to the gathering, announcing that construction would begin within two months. This timeline suggests rapid progress for the project following the successful fundraising campaign.
Vice Chancellor Katunguka also acknowledged the dedicated task force responsible for mobilizing alumni contributions, praising their efforts in securing essential resources for the university’s development.

The fundraising dinner’s success reflects the strong community spirit within Kyambogo University’s extended network. With construction set to commence soon, students can look forward to a modern facility designed to enhance their university experience.Retry
