The management of Kyambogo University has, in a bid to go electronic, introduced E-voting which is a system that will be used during election periods.
This mode of voting is intended to reduce on the irregularities that have been happening at the university like voting rigging which many students claim had become rampant, and it also seeks to make the voting process a little faster.
The system was unveiled to the Guild house yesterday during their 8th sitting which was graced by the senior administrative officer David Kasuuti who came along with a team from the ICT department of Kyambogo who are the brains behind the innovation.
“You are still young people and your minds are meant to be palatable to such innovations; so kindly welcome them and spread the gospel,” Kasuuti said.
The ICT team demonstrated how the system operates and involved most of the Guild leaders in a sample E-voting session.
However, most of the student leaders seemed not to have borrowed the idea with some openly criticizing the fact that the administration never consults them before taking such big decisions.
Earlier innovations that the university has adopted include E-kampas that allows online registration for new students.
