Third year students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics faced it very hot today 24th July when one of their lecturers handling Industrial Statistical Modeling set for them different objective questions for the test to curb cheating in the form of one student peeping onto his or her neighbor’s paper.
Most of the students did not realize as the wording of the questions was nearly the same except for the one or two key words on which the answer heavily depends.
Therefore, some students went ahead to cheat from their neighbors for it is alleged that the test was quite a hard nut to crack.
It was after everyone had handed in their papers that the students discussed the questions amongst themselves, only to realize that their immediate neighbors had been given different questions.
They cursed underneath their breath in total disbelief as they quickly understood the inevitable repercussion of cheating at that time.
The Lecturer was aware that students cheat and therefore set different questions for his students.
Most lecturers have preached against cheating in tests and examinations.
The campaign against examination malpractice organized by the 18th Guild Ministry of Academics and Professional Affairs and the Academic Registrar is still ongoing to enlighten students more about the penalties when caught cheating.
This is scheduled to end on 27th July 2022.
