Kyambogo University National Unity Platform (NUP) is faced with a bitter split ahead of the forthcoming guild polls.
The split came about following disagreements between Michael Nkwanga and Edrine Wafula Koholo, the official NUP flag bearer.
According to Michael Nkwanga, the Kyambogo NUP interim worked in favour of Wafula Edrine Koholo. Nkwanga accuses the interim for doctoring the delegates list that was used in the primaries against him.
Nkwanga also accuses the interim for conniving with Wafula Koholo to alter the delegates list.
In an audio shared with this publication, some members of the interim are heard hailing themselves for having worked against Nkwanga.
The Kyambogo NUP split has further intensified following an attack on Nkwanga Michael. Nkwanga and his supporters were allegedly beaten by Wafula Koholo’s team at Pearl Hall and are currently nursing wounds.
When this publication reached out to James Kyagulanyi, the interim’s speaker through a phone call, he declined commenting about the incident on phone.
Kyambogo University students will go to the polls in January next year and it is still subject to speculation on whether this split will affect NUP in the polls or not.
