Kyambogo University Opens Applications for Graduate Programmes for 2026/2027 Academic Year

Kyambogo University has officially invited suitably qualified applicants to apply for admission to its Graduate Programmes for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.

The programmes on offer include Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s Degrees, and Doctoral (PhD) Programmes, all aligned with national higher education standards and accreditation requirements set by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must possess relevant academic and/or professional qualifications from institutions recognized by NCHE. The University has emphasized that only programmes accredited at the time of completion of an applicant’s previous studies will be considered.

Applications that do not meet the prescribed admission criteria will not be processed.

All graduate programmes at Kyambogo University are privately sponsored.

Prospective applicants are advised that tuition fees indicated for individual programmes exclude functional fees, research costs, books, accommodation, bank charges, and other related expenses.

Duration of Programmes
• Postgraduate Diplomas: One Academic Year
• Master’s Degrees: Two Academic Years
• PhD (Provisional Admission): One Academic Year (Maximum)
• PhD (Full Admission – Coursework & Dissertation): Two Academic Years
• PhD (Full Admission – Research Only): Three Academic Years

Application Procedure

All applications must be submitted online via the Kyambogo University Admissions Portal.

Applicants are required to:
1. Visit https://apply.kyu.ac.ug
2. Click “Register Now” and enter correct personal details
3. Use the OTP sent to email and mobile number to log in
4. Change the system-generated password
5. Click “Apply Now” (new applicants) or “My Portal” (returning applicants)
6. Complete the online application form
7. Upload all required academic and supporting documents
8. Upload a referee’s letter of recommendation (downloadable from the Graduate School website)
9. Submit the application form
10. Generate a Payment Reference Number
11. Pay the non-refundable application fee:

•   UGX 50,000 for East African applicants
•   UGX 75,000 for International applicants

(Bank charges excluded)

Important Notes

Applicants must submit a printed copy of the system-generated biodata form, certified academic documents, a passport photograph, and three referees’ letters to the Directorate of Research and Graduate Training, Uganda Block, Room 1.

Applications submitted without proof of payment will not be considered.

All documents in languages other than English must be officially translated. Academic qualifications obtained outside Uganda must first be equated by NCHE before submission.

Closing Date

The deadline for submission of applications is Sunday, 3rd May 2026.

Kyambogo University has encouraged applicants to begin the process early to avoid last-minute technical or documentation challenges.
