Kyambogo University football team edged Bugema University 1-0 in the Semi-finals at the home grounds of the latter on Wednesday, 31st October which booked them a spot in the University football league final.
Kyambogo’s victory was a cumulative of a double win registered both home and away hence resulting into an aggregate score of 3-0.
While at the Kyambogo East end pitch popularly known as the ‘Tear gas arena’, Ashaba Racmac and Sekidde Robert from Kyambogo University found the back of the net hence giving the team an early win advantage (2-0) over Bugema University.
Kyambogo followed this early win with a 1-0 trouncing of Bugema University at the away grounds on Wednesday to secure their aggregate victory of 3-0 and an advance to the finals of the University Football League.
Sekidde Robert scored for Kyambogo University in the away game.
Kyambogo University will now play in the University football League final for the second time in history. The team last qualified for finals in 2014 but was defeated by Makerere University Business School (MUBS).
The team will meet either St. Lawrence University or Kampala University depending on which of the two prevails over the other in today’s match. However, St. Lawrence University has an early 2-1 away advantage that they attained on October 26.
By the end of the game, Kyambogo University students returned from Bugema grounds chanting and rejoycing over this victory. They will play the finals on November 11 at Namboole stadium.
