Kyambogo University has appointed over 600 staff after confirming the extension of the semester by a month recently.
According to the circular that was addressed to the University community on 22nd July 2022, 520 non-teaching staff were appointed by the appointments committee to take up new positions created due to the semester’s extension.
The circular also confirms the appointment of 152 academic staff.
The 152 academic staff recruited comprise of 75 lecturers, 13 Deans of faculties, schools and institutes and 52 Heads of department.
In an interview with KFM, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Eli Katunguka says the University council approved the extension of the semester by four weeks after a number of students who had missed the first one month of online classes because of Internship and teaching practice complained as they had not yet covered the course outlines of many course units.
Besides, some of their lecturers highly supported the suggestion.
The adjusted academic calendar of this semester shows that examinations are scheduled to begin on 5th September and end on 2nd October after which the semester will close.
