Kyambogo university is probably one of the youngest public universities in Uganda but also with the oldest structures and this seemed to be inadequate to accommodate the entire students community.
On a good note, today officials at Kyambogo University officially launched a massive construction project that will enable students have enough learning space and at the same time work on improving and maintaining of the existing structures. The ceremony was officially launched by the Minister for Education and Sports a Jessica Alupo and was also graced by the acting Vice Chancellor Professor Elly Katunguka.
Speaking to the media, the vice chancellor said Kyambogo university has been having a lot of challenges to do with teaching facilities including lecture rooms, laboratories which include both science and computer, lectures offices, libraries, students resource centers all which were not adequate to accommodate the entire students and teaching community and this he has been hindering the prospering of the university and has also increasingly triggered strikes among students .
He however concluded by saying that this challenge is being worked upon and the new project being launched is set to call off all these insurgencies.
The science faculty also went ahead to launch it’s Lake Katwe Alkali Project that aims to add value to salt extracted from lake Katwe that will benefit this economy and if well funded , along which the students exhibited various products.
