The recruitment process for over 200 Polling assistants at Kyambogo University has been modernised after the introduction of an online application platform that will enable the electoral Commision to sieve and obtain the best recriuts for the position.
This comes after various claims of bribery that were being fueled by the manual application that involved writing letters to the commissioners. This according to the EC Chairperson Shabil Ojambo was increasing contact between the commisioners and prospective polling assistants and thus leading to bribery and hiring of incompetent personnel.
The online platform for application was opened on Saturday, 23rd February and will be closed on Tuesday 26th February which is the application deadline. Interested candidates are required to fill in online response forms that require personal details and also test the candidates on logical interpretation and reasoning.
After application, the shortlisted candidates will be subjected to one-on-one interviews on 10th March so as to futher scrutinize and test their ability to perform on the polling day. The interview results will be released on 12th March and the succesful recriuts will be inducted.
The new Kyambogo Electoral Commision has not spent a week into office ever since it’s approval on Wednesday last week but has recieved approval and appreciation from the students’ fraternity for the tremendous work and the sanity that it is trying to restore in the electoral process.
