Police has arrested a Kyambogo University Student for participating in a protest match to parliament.
The student identified as Bagiire Sharif was part of a group of students that matched to parliament on Tuesday with an intent of petitioning the speaker of parliament Hon. Anita Among.
Through their group known as Justice Movement Uganda, the students want speaker Anita Among to intervene and stop the construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP).
The group has held similar protests before but all in vain.
The construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline was approved by parliament last year raising a storm among climate change activists.
These alleged that the project was a danger to the environment and it’s construction was a risk to human rights of the occupants of the land where it is projected to pass.
