As graduation draws closer for Kyambogo University, a student, Faizol Nkugwa has embarked on a movement aimed at the administration come out and answer to student’s pleas majorly concerning the new student’s portal, ACMIS.
Nkugwa has expressed concern on why the university went ahead and handed over the results, payments and other students details to a new system without consulting the major stakeholders (students) first.
“Why did kyambogo university hand over our data to another system called ACMIS without consulting us as students? Other universities including Makerere have remained operating on AIMS” Faizol raised the concern.
Among other issues raised, Nkugwe noted :
- We can’t view our results, even those we see are completely wrong on the system called ACMIS
- We can’t pay to clear for graduation
- We can’t see our invoices or payments history. We can’t do anything as students on the system as we approach graduation.
- As students we will not allow any unverified information or data, wrong results, wrong payments history and wrong bills on our accounts which were okay on AIMS and are now wrong on the new so called system called “ACMIS”
Also, a number of students are worried because they are absolutely not able to see their results at all on the said ACMIS portal.
The rush to secure slots on the final graduation lists has become a huge frustration to the graduands forcing some to move physically to the campus and clear the traditional way.
Recently, two Kyambogo University staff from the ICT department were summoned by Police on allegations of embezzlement and causing financial loss, as the communique indicated.
The two are expected to appear before CID headquarters in Kampala today.
