Kyambogo University student indentified as Sharon Kisha on Wednesday reportedly survived being stabbed by her ‘boyfriend’ in Banda.
According to New Vision, a local news paper, Sharon was saved by anti-riot Police who abruptly landed on her while they had escorted UMEME officials to Banda Zone B-3, where they had gone to conduct an operation against illegal power connections.
By the time Police intervened, the purported ‘boyfriend’ Joshua Chemutai, had allegedly placed a sharp knife onto Sharon’s neck, ready to slice her like a goat.
Eyewitness told New Vision that upon seeing the Police lorry, Chemutai abandoned his machete in the nearby bush and attempted to take off
“Police held him with the help of the local residents and was later taken to Kireka Police Station,” a source revealed.
Minutes after the scuffle, the student’s landlady only identified as Sarah arrived at the scene. She said she had warned Sharon for living with a man without reporting him to the local authorities.
“At first when I saw the guy, I thought he was my tenant’s brother, but as a mature person, I later realised they were lovers, so I advised them to organise and see our LC1 Chairperson,” she said.
Further interrogation of Sharon, the victim revealed the initial cause of the fight that almost got out of hand.
“The problem I checked where I had kept my sh500, 000 and it was missing and when I asked Chemutai on whether he had seen it, he instead fumed at me and that is how the scuffle started,” she narrated.
Chemutai was later handed over to Kireka Police to enable investigations kick off.
