Kyambogo University was in the past days paralyzed by news of another student disappearing mysteriously.
Julius Osuta, a first-year Kyambogo University student had allegedly gone into hiding after losing his tuition to sports betting.
Osuta’s absence resulted into fears of losing another student following the unfortunate death of Kimera Boniface in March who had gone missing in a similar manner at the same institution.
Fortunately, Kampala Metroploitan Police Spokesperson – Luke Owoyesigire has confirmed the custody of Osuta, whose whereabouts had become abstract to the concerned.
“Julius Osuta, a Kyambogo University Student who went missing on the 7th of this month was yesterday found by Police officers around Arua Park Kampala and handed over to Jinja Road Police. The officers will today hand him over to his parents. Osuta says he run away from school because of stress after he lost tuition fees in sports betting. We have urged his parents to extend psychosocial support to him immediately,” Owoyesigire remarked.
Disappearances among university students have lately become rampant with many cases related to personal struggles that take a toll on the victims’ mental health and that of close friends and family.
Yesterday, 13th April, a MUBS student (Zziwa Raymond) was reported missing and no further information has been revealed about him.
