The dry season is the reason behind some of the very dusty roads around Kyambogo University.
The road from Banda leading to the small gate is very dusty and somewhat ugly looking. Very elegant queens who usually wear those fancy open shoes and use the small gate as a short cut every morning as they rush to class just have no words to describe how filthy their feet look and how their shoes all covered in dust become less desirable after the tedious journey.
One wonders if they washed their feet or cleaned their shoes.
Many of the male Students whose well-polished shoes get soiled have come out to complain about why the road isn’t tarmacked like all the other roads that lead into campus.
“All the students who contend for the post of GRC non-residents promise to make sure that the road from the small gate to Banda is tarmacked. But they forget their own words as soon as they get into power,” one female student lamented.
Jokes and memes about how dirty the students get every time they use that road have been made. They always look like gardeners at the end of the day.
The road leading to the Central Lecture Block (CLB) and the one leading to Nanziri Hall of residence are dusty as well. This very much reminds the students of the maintenance fees they pay such that the university can be made a comfortable place to live in.
What is that money used for? They often ask.
In as much as everyone wishes it could rain, it is much worse when these roads are slippery as they become impassable for both the cars and people walking.
Students demand that the quality of the above mentioned roads be improved.
