It has been the policy of Kyambogo University to charge a fee of fifty thousand shillings as late payment charges to each student who made payments of either tuition or retake beyond six weeks into the semester.
This policy is commonly known as the six weeks policy. However, it wasn’t the case this second semester of the academic year 2020/2021 as no such late payment charges were reflected on the student portals and students who made payments beyond the six weeks were not billed.
This caused excitement among the students as they were grateful to the University Administration on assumption that the six weeks policy had been removed.
Many students who had made their tuition and retake payments beyond the six weeks were able to sit for their examinations without being charged the extra fifty thousand shillings late payment fees.
However, the office of the University Bursar has today 8th April 2022 through emails communicated that the six weeks policy still stands.
The students are informed that it was unfortunate that students who made payments beyond 17th February 2022 were not billed the fifty thousand shillings late payment charges due to system error.
“If you paid tuition, retake or accommodation fees or any fees balances from 18th February 2022 to 10th April 2022 when the semester is to close, and missed paying late fees, proceed to get a payment reference number for late fees and pay,” the email partly reads.
Students who made payments beyond 17th February did not pay late payment fees are therefore being advised to pay them before they can go home for holidays to avoid extra inconveniences.
