Kyambogo University has taken disciplinary action against 25 students, including the dismissal of one and suspension of nine others, following findings of gross misconduct as outlined in the university’s Students’ Regulations.

The decisions were reached during the University Council’s 111th meeting held on June 27, 2025, after reviewing a report from the Students’ Affairs and Welfare Committee. The committee found the students guilty of offenses ranging from breach of peace, mounting of roadblocks, to insubordination to university authorities—all violations of the Kyambogo University Students’ Regulations, 2003 (as amended in 2016).

Dismissed:

  • Benjamin Akiso (24/U/SLI/02832/PD) was dismissed from the university with immediate effect for his involvement in multiple offenses. His actions were deemed serious enough to warrant permanent removal from the institution, under Regulation 37(m).

Access and Representation Restrictions

All students who were dismissed or suspended are banned from accessing university premises, attending lectures or events, using university facilities, or representing the Students’ Guild or the University in any capacity for the duration of their suspension or indefinitely in the case of dismissal.

The disciplinary actions are part of the university’s effort to uphold order and maintain academic integrity on campus. University officials emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated and warned students to adhere to the institution’s regulations.
