Fresh news reaching the Hive this afternoon is of the demolition of the old and dilapidated structures at Kyambogo University in Banda, as the institution paves way for a ‘new and better facelift’.
According to the University Engineer, Patrick Kalule, the dilapidated structures give the university a bad image as compared to other public universities hence the need to be demolished to attain a better look.
“The reason as to why these dilapidated buildings have been in existence for a longer time is because the institution receives low funding which exempts it from infrastructure upgrades.” He observed.
The University Engineer however notes that with the new physical development master plan of the university, they have identified structures that can be renovated and those that need to be razed down.
On addition to the buildings, the University is also embarking of upgrading of roads, paved surfaces, main university gate, drainage system, the sports field and all other major construction projects with in the institution.
