The student association of the Anti-Traffick Kyambogo and the 15th Guild Council will conduct a public lecture on human trafficking at Kyambogo University under the theme “Realities of Human Trafficking in Uganda.” The informative session is aimed at raising awareness and engaging the students in a structured conversation on the topic of human trafficking.
Pollicy a Ugandan based civic technology organisation together with Willow International have partnered with the McCain Institute for International Leadership at Arizona State University to advance the Institute’s Student Alliance against Trafficking program to universities in Uganda. This collaborative partnership is meant to allow Willow International and Pollicy through its project dubbed ‘Wetaase’ seeks to connect on the ground with students, directing them to student alliance resources that support efforts to raise awareness and engage communities on human trafficking.
‘Realities of Human Trafficking in Uganda’ being the theme of the day, different dignitaries, experts, and officials from the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social development are expected to speak at the lecture. Students will be equipped with knowledge on human trafficking so that they can raise awareness against the vice that has caught up with many Ugandans both within and abroad.
“We are calling upon students to attend this public lecture. We expect to have many dignitaries speaking to us on human trafficking and how we can overcome it. We have seen how our brothers and sisters have been exported for free labor. However, human trafficking is more than that. Let us come and digest this matter fully at the lecture,” said Polycap Monerach, the president of the Anti-Traffick Association.
