All is well and exciting for the mighty Kyambogo University after they won as overall champions for the East African University Debating Championships yesterday, August 31st 2017 in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital.
The Kyambogo team which was composed of members from the Kyu Debating Society gained a mega victory leading in first position having beaten Makerere University at the final stage of the debating sessions. Kyu participants and champions included; Walaka John Victor, Kish Patricia, Dalton Joseph Ayebare, Inesmus Kansiime, Ojambo Shabil and Ivan Segawa Sebastian
The prominent University sent a team of eight students, who not only represented but also soared above all and lifted Kyambogo’s flag up high making many Kyu students proud. It must also be noted that all the Ugandan universities that took part in the tournament qualified for quarter finals.
The debate championship kicked off on August, 27th 2017 and attracted teams from across East Africa within Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The qualification stages for quarter finals had all the Ugandan teams in the championship qualified including Makerere University, Uganda Christian University, Kyambogo University, International University of East Africa and Nkumba University.
Other participating universities included Kim University, Kepler University, and University of Kigali among others.
