The newly elected Guild President of Kyambogo University Serge Tumwine has revealed that Kyambogo has had the worst guild leadership for the last three years.
He said this while appearing at the weekly press conference for Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.
‘’We have had the worst leadership regimes, the first person being Tundulu Jonathan (NUP), he was impeached by his house because of his poor administration skills. The second President was Mbaziira John (NUP) had two-thirds of his cabinet resign because of his poor managerial skills. And at the end of the day, students realised that we don’t need a President at the most of the wave but rather national leaders, ideological leaders,’’ Serge told journalists.
He further disclosed that students were tired of fake promises and a new generation was needed to liberate the innocent students from deprived leadership.
‘’And when I came in, they embraced me and said this is the time for a change, we need leaders who are going to work for students. All we are asking for to the student’s fraternity we are ready to work and we are ready to bring the change that will be effective to all students of Kyambogo University. And for the National cause. We are ready to be part of the team that is going to come up and fight for the student’s rights and all the students of Uganda,’’ He added.
Serge Tumwine’s win came as a surprise to majority of the students who didn’t believe that he would overturn the NUPs strongholds at the university.
Serge scooped 5915 votes against his two close competitors Mandwa Elijah (NUP) and Ssekanjako Bazungu Masuudi (People Power) who gathered 3550 and 1380 respectively.
