News reaching us is that Kyambogo’s prestigious Naalya based Bavana Hostel has been hit by a huge water crisis. A furious source within the hostel have intimated to this website that this crisis didn’t just start yesterday but it has been the talk since January- meaning the hostel residents have been suffering with scarcity of water since the semester began.
It is alleged by students that this water crisis is a planned move by the hostel management to cut costs as construction of more floors resumes.
This website reached out to the custodian of Bavana hostel, who only identified herself as Jackie. She told Campus Bee that it’s a general problem in the area and that the management has reached out to the National Water and Sewarage Corporation who have come around and taken survey.
“We have had a problem with our water and the National Water and Sewarage Corporation has come around several times and found out that our pump has a problem, which we have officially communicated to the students but students have failed to believe,” Jackie, the Custodian of Bavana hostel told Campus Bee’s Phillip Ayazika.
The students have failed to agree with management about this this theory saying “these guys have not done anything about the situation since January.”
“We are carrying jerrycans each time, do you know what this water crisis means to someone who has a self contained room with a toilet inside their room? It’s really disgusting,” a peeved Doreen Agaba said.
The management has since not improvised as source of water which means students in this hostel may have to continue suffering before the hostel administration fully takes it upon itself to rectify the issue.
We shall keep you posted.
