Kyambogo University’s most prized asset Farouk Miya was last night named Uganda’s best male footballer, 2015. Vying for two awards, the son of Bulo lost to Tony Mawejje the Fan’s favorite footballer award. The Vipers striker won himself a brand new car at a pomp filled Airtel-FUFA Uganda football awards ceremony held last night at Speke Resort, Munyonyo.
The awards theme read; ‘Celebrating Uganda’s Finest Footballers’.
The Bulo born 19 year old prodigy rose through the ranks at st Marys Kitende, catching the eyes of the Vipers FC scouts as a rising star at the Coca cola post primary football tournament. He was promptly given first team football, he represented Uganda in the under 23 side that lost 6-1 on aggregate to Egypt, finding the sole net in those two encounters.
He soared to fame after sinking the Togolese side with 3 goals over the two legged encounters, including a free kick in Lome, Togo. His 2014-2015 goals include;

Farouk Miya has found a place in the hearts of Ugandan not only for his, pace, talent, and net finding credentials but also for the icing on the cake manifested in his Shoki dance every time he scores. Another teenage prodigy, Sandra Nabweteeme. Kawempe secondary school, won the female footballer award.
The jolly faced youngster took to his official Facebook page, he dedicated the award to fans, and thanked all stakeholders.
Other University winners included Douglas Muganga (Nkumba Select), Brian Nkuubi MUBS and Baker Lukooya MUBS who won under FUFA Beach Soccer players’ category.
