Kyambogo University student, model, Jean Corprise Akullo will this Sunday face off with four other young beauties in a scientific crowning ceremony. Akullo, a student of Interior and Landscape Architecture will this weekend battle it out with YMCA’s Prossy Agwang, former MUBS scholar Atuheire Sheevon and two other hot babes.
The Miss Tourism pageant has partnered with the national carrier Uganda airlines in a bid to boost tourism as the country braces for it’s first scientific crowning slated for this weekend. After events were banned to fight Covid19, the organisers of the event have chosen to hold the crowning in Sseguku off Entebbe road this Sunday.
The five tourism ambassadors who have been attending a boot camp recently in preparation for Sunday’s finale include, Jean corprise Akullo, Amaniyo Charity, kyomugisha Sonia, Agwang Prossy Permah and Atuheire Sheevon.

While speaking at a breakfast meeting at café Java’z, Victoria Mall Entebbe, the Chief Executive Officer Miss Tourism Uganda Mr Allan Kanyike said this year’s theme ‘Beauty, Brains and Change’ (BBC) is aimed at encouraging Ugandan’s embrace local tourism. We have 5 contestants vying for this year’s crown and unlike the other pageants, this year has come different. The pageant had 5 contestants who were tasked to use social media to share their knowledge about Tourism of different areas in Uganda. The best will take home the crown this Sunday.
Kanyike also encourage Ugandans to love and bless their home, let them visit a site and post it to promote who we are, Uganda is one country with so many tribes which are very identical, let us promote our hearts to the world through tourism, let us now rely on domestic tourism” he said.
Ms Sylvia kaggwa the sales manager Uganda Airlines Entebbe office said the miss tourism ambassadors will help promote the national tourism initiative in the region and across the world as the airline expands it’s route network in Africa and beginning of intercontinental flights to Europe, Asia and Middle East with the delivery of Airbus A330 in December.
The Executive Director of Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board, Carol Nalinnya said the finalists will inspire more women to become empowered.
“Through promoting culture we shall preserve and also promote tourism, we have a lot of sites that have a lot of culture and meaning to the rest of the people, within and outside Uganda” she said.
Ms Nalinya said the winner who will be crowned at Care Bear Home will be taken to all the Buganda sites and also get a chance to meet the Buganda premier Charles Peter Mayiga.
Across the Nations International Ministries (ATNIM) Dr Deborah Freeman, who is a member on the National Executive Board for Miss Tourism of Uganda urged pageant holders on the need to teach contestant the values of having inner beauty since there are a lot of people who look beautiful on the outside yet within they are not.
Last year’s beauty queen from Busoga region Ms Phiona Bridget Kyeru was gifted with a land title and will receive her car on Sunday according to Kanyike.
