Shocking news reaching our desk indicates that one of Uganda’s most adorable students’ residential hostels, Madonna, is up for sale, and its occupants, who make up students from Kyambogo University and MUBS, have been ordered to vacate it within 14 days lest they face forceful eviction.
Reliable sources indicate that the reason behind the sale is due to the failure of the hostel proprietor, Richard Tusiime to pay off money owing to an unknown financial institution. In an advert placed in a newspaper by Kyazze and Kankaka and Co. Advocates, the Advocates and Solicitors firm received instructions from their client, a financial institution, to sell off the hostel through auction unless Richard Tusiime, the debtor, pays all monies owing within 30 days.
Meanwhile, a Kyambogo University student residing in the hostel who preferred anonymity indicated that they have not had electricity in days and the custodian has been rare, which has aroused suspicion. “Unlike other semesters, we were even required to pay up the full sum of hostel accommodation fee at the very beginning of the semester,” the student asserted.
Well, it seems like the woes of proprietor of this luxurious hostel aren’t about to stop as he was among the RedPepper directors who were incarcerated for over 28 days.
Attempts to get a comment from the hostel custodian seemed futile as she informed this writer that she’d get back to us after consulting with her boss.
