Over the weekend, Guild Presidents and Deans of students from over 41 public and private universities convened at Northern Uganda’s Lira university to discuss several matters among which was to vote and put in power new leaders of their forum dubbed the Guild president’s forum of Uganda.
In the voting that was done by show of hands, two candidates were nominated for the post of chairperson— these were; Kyambogo university’s Ochieng Ochieng and Lira university’s Erach Andrew where Ochieng Ochieng won by majority vote making him the leader of the Forum.
In other posts, Uganda Christian university’s Amongin Prisca was voted the vice chairperson, Lira university’s Erach Andrew as Publicist and Gulu university’s General secretary, Saddick Ssentongo as the coordinator of the forum.
Among the various matters discussed was the issue of reviving the Guild President’s Association of Uganda (GIPAOU) which had ceased to exist and they agreed that this same leadership in question will take overthe respective position once the association is revived.
“We thought it best that we as students leaders from various universities have some common problems we are facing and failing to solve as individuals yet, as a united team, we could be able to become a formidable force and that’s why we are today reviving this forum,” said Ochieng Ochieng the newly elected chairperson of the forum.
