Following the declaration of FDC’s Tumwine Serge’s as winner in the Kyambogo university guild race, tweeps grabbed their gadgets to congratulate him and among these was former Makerere vice chancellor Professor Venansius Baryamureeba.
Professor Baryamureeba tweeted a rather mocking remark questioning what went wrong with the National Unity Platform, whose candidate came second, and also noted that by 2023, the FDC will have concurred 50% of NUP’s fan base in the central region.
“So what happened to @NUP? FDC is gaining ground again in the central region and by end of 2023 FDC will have eaten into 50% of NUP support in central region” the tweet reads.
However, Professor Baryamureeba’s comment was to later become a jigger in the foot as a tweep came out to troll him in a reply alleging that FDC’s Serge performed much better in comparison to Professor Baryamureeba.
According to a tweep only identified as Aiden Kalisa, FDC’s Serge Tumwine got more votes cast in his favour as opposed to those Baryamureeba got in his 2016 quest for the presidential seat.
“FDC’s Tumwine got more votes at Kyambogo university than the number of votes you got in the whole country in 2016 presidential elections!” Kalisa replied.
Tumwine Serge managed to defeat NUP and people power’s Masuudi Bazungu Ssekanjako at all polling centers posing a huge threat to the political stand of NUP which has always been victorious since its birth as a political party.
