The political air at Kyambogo University is heated up now. Guild presidential aspirants are on pressure as supporters change sides to rally behind their former antagonists.
The latest reaching our desk is that Tundulu Jonathan, the outgoing Kyambogo University guild president has decided to show his side by rallying behind Mbaziira John Senior.
Tundulu Openly argued students to vote for Mbaziira if they wanted to see a better Kyambogo.
Of recent, Tundulu has been posting on his Facebook timeline, showing his fearless approach to whatever is advanced towards “the struggle”. Many students have been questioning him who he would endorse as the next guild president. It was however obvious that Mbaziira John was his favorite.
Last year, the two were arrested in the “bloody week” strike where Mbaziira was battered, almost breaking his legs. This was the same strike that led to Tundulu’s impeachment though a reconciliation with the GRC house brought him back onto power.
The crowds are currently the major talk in the campaigns. Supporters rally behind their candidates after the debate to prove their might as they stroll around the campus and the surrounding areas.
As it stands, People Power seems to be leading with the largest crowd however much the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) camp claims that many supporters are shipped from Makerere University.
The FDC and National Resistance Movement (NRM) parties now seem to be head to head in numbers. Many claim that most NRM supporters are just chasing money goals from the party, claiming that millions of money are being splashed in the NRM camp to amass the crowds.
It should be noted that Tundulu is still “a darling” of students after fighting for the students’ cause that had led to his impeachment and therefore his active involvement could yield extra support for the camp he supports.
