It is two weeks now after the 2019/20 second semester commenced at Kyambogo University but students are still giving a deaf ear to lectures.
The first week saw most of the lecture rooms closed and few students roaming the campus premises without any thought of studies. The Bee, your trusted source, buzzed again around the campus to find out if there is any change from last week, and this is what we found out;
We found out that during the evening hours, the Banda roads are full of students moving from place to place, dawdling on the sidewalks without caring what happened after earthly life. This is surprisingly not the same for the morning hours. The morning hours have the roads running smoothly with serious students smartly lolloping on the sidewalks, heading for lectures. We are still bedazzled by the question of how comes there is a big number of students on the roads in the evenings than the mornings. Well, we cannot conclude on un-investigated matters.
We also found out that loud music welcomes you as soon as you enter any hostel at any time of the day. Many doors are wide open to let the neighbors enjoy the trending music that the owner of the woofer has. Let us hope that students go to lectures and leave their doors wide open with music trending.
We however found some classes where students were humbly seated waiting for their lecturers to appear until the clock revolved to the exit time. The Central Teaching Facility (CTF), which still stands as Kyambogo University’s most prestigious building had the lowest number of student attendees compared to the number it carries.
We also found some lecture rooms where lecturers were busy pouring out matter to the eager few students.
Overtaken by this queer behavior, we interviewed some student. ” I’m yet to start attending lectures,” said one tall muscular gentleman as he scrolled his Instagram feed, “I will start when students increase in number.”
We found another student who requested that his names remain anonymous. He was going for his sports practice and told us that the first months are for enjoyment. “Man, serious coursework assignments and tests are coming soon. We have to utilize this free time we have at the start of the semester.” He said.
The hive will keep buzzing to bring all you need to know about the development of this story.
