Kyambogo University is in awe after one of it’s Government-Sponsored students decried of his landlord’s unfair treatment.
Ayo Filex has been allegedly evicted by his landlord following his failure to clear rent. Ayo is a first year student of Telecommunication Engineering on government sponsorship.
On the Sunday evening of 1st May, 2022, Ayo was shown the exit door of the rentals where he had a pending debt of Shs. 120,000/=.
Ayo would have made peace with the embarrassment but the extra punishment of capturing his cellphone made him feel bad given the disappointment that came along.
“It is really hard to understand how it came down to the extent of capturing my phone but I personally don’t deserve this treatment. I had talked to my landlord last week expecting to clear him by Saturday but the government money I anticipated didn’t reflect,” Ayo revealed.
One would wonder how a government sponsored student would fail to clear an outstanding payment of 120k but Ayo points his failure towards the administration’s incompetence to fully avail his living out allowance.
Overtime, the bureaucracy in the Finance Ministry and other government agencies makes it hard for beneficiaries to timely settle their dues due to the associated obscurity.
Ayo is one of the many culprits of the unreliable government programs that often leave many on the walk of shame.
Last month, Kyambogo University Guild Leaders had come out to demand for what is deserving for the government sponsored students since the time lag had been long over due.
Hopefully, Ayo finds away out of the precarious situation since he’s about to start his exams yet most of his study material was saved on the cellphone.
