Controversial lawyer Male Mabirizi has yet again petitioned Makerere University to avail it’s policy/rules pertaining to the mature age entry of the year 2000 that National Unity Platform presidential aspirant used for gaining admission to the university.
Mabirizi noted that he intended to use the policy to institute legal proceedings against Kyagulanyi in the courts of law.
In his letter dated December 22, 2020, to the Academic Registrar, Mabirizi noted he was in receipt of his letter dated December 11, 2020, in which he availed him certified copies of some of the academic documents of Kyagulanyi registration number 00/U/3223.
“Upon going through the documents, I discovered that born on February 12, 1980, the student sat and passed University mature entry examinations held on March 3, 2000, for entry into the course of Diploma in Music Dance and Drama on which basis he was admitted,” he said.
Mabirizi noted that this raised eyebrows. “Given that it is contrary to the long-standing publicly known policy that mature entry examinations are only sat by individuals above the age of 25 years. Further, this is a person who sat his A-level in November-December 1998 and probably failed to get government sponsorship due to his poor grades,” Mabirizi argued.
He noted that on the face of it, Kyagulanyi had committed several offences and fraud especially that he enjoyed a government sponsorship based on mature age entry for which he was not qualified.
“I am pursuing this criminality up to the tail end to which I am requesting you for the University Policy on the mature-age entry of the year 2000 so that I can use it to institute criminal proceedings against Kyagulanyi,” Mabirizi noted.
In August this year, Mabirizi, petitioned the Electoral Commission demanding to see Kyagulanyi’s academic papers and seeking a caveat against his nomination.
In his petition, Mabirizi noted that there is no way Kyagulanyi who claims to be 38-years-old could have finished his Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in 1998. The UACE is the minimum requirement for one to run for president.
However, while addressing the media, Kyagulanyi noted that he was an “extraordinary person” who did not study all classes as many Ugandans do.
“I should not be blamed for always being extraordinary. People who I went to school with know that I did not study all classes. For instance, I did Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) when I was in Primary Six and I passed to enter Senior One,” Kyagulanyi noted.
